新保逍滄　略歴

新潟県五泉市出身。早稲田大学第一文学部哲学科東洋哲学専修卒、Monash大学日本研究科修士、 Monash大学美術修士（彫刻）、RMIT大学教育学部博士号取得。華道師範、庭園デザイナー、神職資格取得。メルボルン国際フラワー・ガーデンショー金賞受賞、イェーリング・ステーション現代彫刻展ABL賞受賞他。
現在、オーストラリア、メルボルンにて華道家、彫刻家、華道研究家、日本庭園デザイナーとして活動。RMIT大学公開講座「日本の美学：生花から現代芸術へ」担当。アレキサンドル・ヨアン・クザ大学（ルーマニア）、京都芸術大学で特別講師。国際いけ花学会副会長。いけ花ギャラリー賞、メルボルン生け花フェスティバル、生花道場（オンライン講座）の創設に関わる。

Shoso Shimbo PhD is a certified teacher of Ikebana who is qualified to run certificate and teaching diploma courses in Sogetsu Ikebana. He has over 30 years experience in Ikebana. 

Shoso was selected by Belle magazine as one of the six “Australia’s top floral designers” and has won multiple awards including the Gold Award at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. His work was selected for the prestigious publication, International Floral Art 2014/2015, Stichting Kunstboek (Belgium).   

Shoso has BA in Asian Philosophy, MA in Japanese Studies, Master of Fine Art  and PhD in Education. 

He is a vice president of International Society of Ikebana Research (ISIR).

He is also qualified as a garden designer (Japan Horticultural Society) specializing in Japanese gardens using Australian native plants.  

In 2009 Shoso exhibited his work at the Chelsea Flower Show, UK. His current works include traditional and unique contemporary wedding flowers.

        

His sculptural works have been featured in some of the major contemporary art exhibitions including the Toyota Sculpture Exhibition, Lorne Sculpture, Melbourne Now (National Gallery of Victoria), New Wave Art Festival (National Gallery of Victoria), and the finalists exhibition for Deakin university contemporary small sculpture award.

He is the winner of The Arnold Bloch Leiber Prize at the Yering Station Sculpture Exhibition 2017.
